Discover How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

Many of us have been conditioned to believe that comfort foods are terrible and must be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be perfectly nutritious and good for us to consume. There are several foods that, when you consume them, can boost your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, you may be surprised to learn, are terrific at battling depression. Just see to it that you don’t toss out the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for raising your mood. This is because these vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Consume an egg and jolly up!

Put together a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all great for helping to elevate your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin production. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein food source.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you wish to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you overcome your depression.

It’s not difficult to fight your bad mood when you are eating grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly wonderful for helping raise your happiness levels. They help you feel full also which can really help to improve your mood. Feeling hungry can truly bring you down! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are easy for your stomach to digest. You digest them quicker than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You just knew green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously calming your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you become healthier. Now you know that applies to your mood also!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you should eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try some of these instead!
