The ingredients needed to make Aval Vadai:
  1. Get 1 bowl poha(flattened rice)
  2. Get 2 bread slice
  3. Take 1 onion
  4. Take 8-10 curry leaves
  5. Prepare 2 Green chilli
  6. Take 1 " piece ginger
  7. Get To taste salt
  8. Make ready 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
  9. Make ready 1 pinch asafoetida
  10. Take 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  11. Get 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  12. Make ready Cooking Oil for deep frying
  13. Make ready Water if required

Instructions to make Aval Vadai:
  1. Wash and Soak poha for 10 minutes. Drain water thoroughly and transfer it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Grind bread slice in a mixer and make bread crumbs. Mix this bread crumbs in poha.
  3. Now knead it thorougly like a dough.
  4. Add chopped onion, green chilli, curry leaves and grated ginger. Add salt, red chilli flakes, mustard seeds, black pepper, asafetida and mix well and knead like a dough. It dough is tight 1 or 2 tb sp water can be added.
  5. Now take a portion of dough and make small balls. Make whole in the centre with the help of your finger. Like wise make all the vadai.
  6. Heat oil in a karahi and put vadai one by one and deep fry till golden brown.
  7. Serve hot with sauce or green chutney.
