  1. Prepare 1 1/2 litre Milk
  2. Get 1/2 cup Flattened Rice(Poha)
  3. Make ready 1/2 cup Sugar
  4. Prepare 1 tsp Ghee
  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  6. Make ready 1 pinch Cinnamon Powder
  7. Get 1/4 cup Cashew nuts(chopped)
  8. Take 2 tbsp Raisins

Instructions to make Aval Payasam:
  1. Heat the ghee in a pan and roast the cashew nuts and raisins on low heat till light golden. Keep this aside.
  2. Wash the flattened rice well with water. Drain water and keep aside.
  3. Boil milk in a heavy bottomed pan. As milk started boiling add the washed flattened rice to the milk.
  4. Turn the heat to low and simmer the milk mixture until it thickens.This will take a 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Now add sugar, cardamom powder, cinnamon in it. Mix well. Stir and simmer until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Turn off the flame and garnish with dryftuits. Serve hot or cold.
