The ingredients needed to make Mallige Idli:
  1. Prepare 1 cup urad dal
  2. Prepare 1 cup flattened rice thick
  3. Get 2 cup idli rice
  4. Take as required water for soaking
  5. Prepare 1 tsp salt
  6. Make ready as required oil for greasing

Instructions to make Mallige Idli:
  1. In a large bowl take 1 cup urad dal and 1 cup poha. - soak for 4-5 hours in enough water.
  2. Soak 2 cup idli rice separately for 5 hours.
  3. Now blend both to a smooth batter and mix well
  4. Rice mix can be little coarse paste too. - Keep the batter in a warm place to ferment for 8-10 hours
  5. Add 1 tsp salt to the batter and mix gently.
  6. Prepare the steamer and grease the idli plate with oil. - Scoop the batter into idli plate greased with oil.
  7. Place in steamer and steam for 12 minutes on medium flame or till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Soft mallige idli will be ready to be served along with chutney and sambhar.
