Hello everybody, I hope you are having an amazing day today. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a special dish, ton-jiru. One of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I am going to make it a little bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Tonjiru (豚汁), literally meaning "pork (ton) soup (jiru)", is basically miso soup featuring pork and root vegetables. Some people call it Butajiru (豚汁) too, just another way to read the same kanji character. Tonjiru is usually served as miso soup with added pork in Japan, but I make this dish as a more substantial one pot miso stew type with added veggies. Tonjiru or Butajiru (豚汁,とん汁,とんじる) — both literally mean pig/pork soup — is a Japanese soup made with pork and vegetables, flavoured with miso.

Ton-jiru is one of the most popular of current trending meals on earth. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. It is easy, it is fast, it tastes yummy. They’re fine and they look wonderful. Ton-jiru is something which I have loved my whole life.

The ingredients needed to make Ton-jiru:
  1. Get Daikon (white radish)
  2. Take Carrots
  3. Prepare Gobou(Burdock)
  4. Prepare Thin sliced pork (Thinner is better, available at Asian grocery store)
  5. Get 1 tsp sesame oil
  6. Get Miso (amount can varry based on your preference)
  7. Make ready Small shredded ginger

Packed with loads of vegetables and a small amount of pork, tonjiru is quite filling but you will be surprised. Tonjiru (sometimes called Butajiru) is a hearty pork and vegetable miso soup. Caldo de bonito en polvo, Dashi no Moto. Tonjiru (or Butajiru) is a kind of Miso Soup with pork and a lot of root vegetables such as Gobo Tonjiru has a distinct pork flavor and strong taste from Gobo.

Steps to make Ton-jiru:
  1. Here are the ingredients.
  2. Cut all the vegetables. The amount of vegetables can carry based on your preference. There are no right or wrong answers in this cooking, so don't worry about it:)
  3. Cook the thin sliced pork in a soup pot with sesame oil until fully cooked.
  4. Add the cut vegetables and cook with medium temperature until the vegetables are softened. * I use a lid here to close the temperature in the pot to heat up the vegetables faster.
  5. Add water into the pot until the vegetables are submerged.
  6. While waiting for the water to get boiled, shred the ginger. I recommend Japanese daikon/ ginger shredder that you could buy either online, 100 yen shop, Asian grocery stores. Then, I use this time to wash all my dishes:)
  7. This is how it should look when you have enough water in the pot.
  8. Use a spoon and a ladle to dissolve the miso while both are in the pot. Add as much miso you need until it tastes less "watery".
  9. It should look like this color by now.
  10. Add the shredded ginger. I love ginger, so I usually put a lot:) then stir…
  11. DONE! Itadakimasu!
