  1. Get 500 grams raw jackfruit/kathal, cut into small chunks
  2. Make ready 4 tbsp oil
  3. Get 4 large onions, sliced
  4. Take 3 large tomatoes, chopped
  5. Take 1 tsp chilli powder
  6. Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
  7. Prepare 1 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  8. Make ready 1 tsp garam masala
  9. Make ready 1 1/2 tsp salt
  10. Take 1 tsp amchur/anardana powder

Steps to make Kathal Sabji:
  1. Heat a large pan. Add oil. Keep the heat low. Add the cut jackfruit/kathal pieces. Stir to coat well with oil. Cover and cook. After every 5 minutes, stir, sprinkle water and cover. Repeat for 20 minutes, till the pieces are golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes, sliced onions and the ginger-garlic paste. Mix well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and Garam masala powder. Mix thoroughly. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add salt. Mix and taste. If you wish, you can add more, to your taste. Add amchur/anardana powder. Fry for 5 minutes. If you wish, you can add a spoon of ghee (optional).
  5. Serve with roties, pulao or plain rice. Enjoy!
