The ingredients needed to make Makki (corn)flour idli:
  1. Get 2 cups makki flour
  2. Get 1 tbsp rice flour
  3. Take 2 tbsp oil
  4. Take 1 tsp Chana dal
  5. Take 1 tsp urd dal
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  7. Take 6-7 curry leaves
  8. Make ready 7-8 cashews chopped
  9. Get 1 cup curd
  10. Get 1 Onion chopped fine
  11. Get 1/2 capsicum chopped
  12. Get Green chilli chopped
  13. Get Coriander leaves chopped
  14. Make ready to taste Salt 1 tsp sugar
  15. Take 1/2 tsp cooking soda or Eno fruit salt

How to make Makki-Til ki Tikki. Sift corn meal in a vessel. Dissolve jaggery in a cup of water (Mix water and jaggery and heat on low flame stirring continuosly. Cool and store them in air tight containers.

Steps to make Makki (corn)flour idli:
  1. Take oil in a wok. Let it heat.
  2. Add Chana and urad dal. Let it get brown.
  3. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  4. When it crackles add makki flour.Just fry for 7 mts so that its rawness goes away
  5. Add cashews and rice flour.
  6. Add curd and water till flowing consistency.Add onion,capsicum, green chillies and coriander leaves.
  7. Add salt and sugar.Mix it well.Keep the batter for1 hour.
  8. Take water in idli maker and put it on fire. Make idllis by smearing ghee on idli moulds.
  9. Steam for 15 mts on medium heat. See that knife comes out clear when you test it to see that it is completely cooked.
  10. Cool the idlis little bit before taking them out from moulds.
  11. Precautions… 1.Don't mix the batter too much after adding cooking soda. 2.Make idlis within 5 mts after adding cooking soda.
